Just recently I took a stop in Mohawk Park over by the Tulsa Zoo. This is the reason why I bring a camera wherever I go! I mean, I had a rough day and the following day we were taking a field trip to the zoo...As I was pulling out I saw this beautiful field and I had to get out for a closer look. Nature has always been captivating for many reasons: It is free from judgment and cannot shy away from human interaction or in this case, a camera. I feel free to just look out in beauty and watch what this world has to offer. We are merely visiting this place temporarily and to sit back and be present to nature was and has always been calming.
As I parked my car I had no intention but to let the lens take me wherever it saw fit. Be it the view from the grass, a closer look at an animal playing by a tree, or ducks taking a dip in the stream. My mind was back at ease all due to the sooth of the wind and quietude around me. Sometimes we need to get away and just be. This was that time for me. As the year is winding down for myself and my students it was apt opportunity to reflect and trace my footsteps that have gotten me to where I am today. This journey can only continue. More to come.
